TRANSFER .IPA FILES FROM PC TO IPHONE FOR APPCAKE (UPDATED FOR IOS 7)

Recently, iOS 6.x untethered jailbreak tool, evasi0n, was released for all iDevices. One of the main reasons why people jailbreak is to be able to download paid apps for free. And the name that used to chime with app piracy, Installous, was shut down a while back and
a new winner, AppCake, rose from its ashes to save the interests of jailbreakers. But we can't always download application files(.ipa files) directly to our device and torrents and some good sites like iphonecake.com do host cracked apps and make it quite easy to download one. The plight of users is that there is no direct or apparent which enables users to download .ipa files on PC and then transfer them to their iPhone to be able to install them. But as we know, for every problem, there always lies a solution.

Lets have a look at how to do the deed.

Step 1: As you may have guessed you require a jailbroken iDevice so that you can install AppCake on it.

Step 2: Now, you need AppCake in your iDevice.

Note: iOS 7 users with jailbreak need to download an utility afc2add using Cydia from ModMyI repository to be able to move forward and access their device's root file system.

Step 3: To be able to transfer files easily, we need a PC based file manager for iDevices and Disk Aid is one of the best of the lot. To download it, open your internet broswer and go to digidna.net.

And now click on Download button for your appropriate Operating System and as  you click it, a new tab will open and the download will start.

Step 4: Now, click on the installation file and start the setup process for Disk Aid. Follow the on screen instructions to complete the setup.

Step 5: When the installation process finishes, start Disk Aid and plug in your iDevice.

Step 6: Now, when Disk Aid opens click on Root and then go to var directory(don't get it confused because of the shortcut icon) in it.

Step 7: Now, when the var directory opens, click on mobile folder.

Step 8: Now, in the mobile directory, you will see a folder named Documents.

Step 9: In the Documents folder, there will be a folder named Downloads.

This is the folder where all ipa(iPhone Application) files are stored for AppCake and thus if you ever want to install an application through its cracked ipa file which is stored on your PC, all you need to get that application installed is copy the file to this directory.

And when you complete the copying procedure, AppCake on your iDevice will show the .ipa file in its Downloaded section and now all you got to do to install the application on your iDevice is click Install.

Now, as many of you might have been a user of Installous, when it was present, and you may even have some .ipa files stored through Installous which you think now have gone to waste. Well, you can have these .ipa files too. Although, you may have removed Installous from your iDevice, but the folder it uses to store the files doesn't get deleted and you can always extract cracked .ipa files from the folder. The path of the folder is /File System/Root/var/mobile/Documents/Installous/Downloads .

So, now you know from where to extract all your previous cracked .ipa files, before Installous went under, so that they can be used through AppCake, erasing the need to download them again. Also, now you are not tied to the need of downloading an installation file for an application on the iDevice itself and instead you can download the files from the convenience of your PC and then use them for installation on iPhone.
